The Vault Gastropub
History
Located in downtown Whitby just south of hwy 2 at the historic four corners, the building that is now home to the Vault Gastropub was built in 1891 for York City and County Bank. A Grade-II bank, it then became an HSBC before being converted in the restaurant it is today. The Vaults were transformed in 2015 to the charmingly intimate dinning spaces they remain to this day.
The Experience
The Vault Gastropub has two original private vault rooms, one that seats two and the larger one seats up to six (the 6 seater has the coolest floor made of old canadian pennies). Both vaults offer a cozy atmosphere perfect for a special gathering or of course your romantic date night. The wine cellar feel of the two seater vault was our fav and the attentive service and fresh in house made foods were incredible. It was our own secluded space that was both novel and inviting!
The Food
An interesting and diverse selection, the food was thoughtful and delicious! It’s not often you see deviled eggs on a menu so we had to indulge and they did not disappoint! From homemade soups to mac and cheese balls, fish tacos to briskets and even the french fries seasoned with dill, they were all home made and we enjoyed every bite!
